What I check

What's included in the full inspection?

Every inspection covers the body, engine, electronics, transmission, and suspension — with real measurements, not guesswork.

Tap “+” to see what's checked.

Body and paint coating

A thorough visual inspection of the car's body is carried out. I assess the overall body condition, paint shade differences, scratches, dents, stone-chip damage, and the condition of body panels, lights, and other exterior parts.

A paint thickness gauge is used to check the paint coating – determining factory, cosmetic, or repeat painting, filled areas, and the extent of previous damage. I check for fitting and removal marks on the bonnet, wings, doors, and boot.

I inspect the sills, pillars, inner body parts, boot recess, rear panel, front body section, chassis rails, and other structural areas, looking for welding, deformation, structural repair, and other signs of previous accidents. I also check the headlights and their manufacturing dates.

Engine, suspension and brakes

Engine and engine bay

I assess the condition of the engine and the entire engine bay, checking for oil, coolant, and other fluid leaks.

I inspect problem areas typical of the specific engine: valve cover, injectors, turbo, thermostat, water pump, cooling system, hoses, and other components.

I assess engine performance, unusual noises, fluid condition, corrosion, and visible signs of repair or disassembly, as well as problem areas typical of the specific engine and model.

Suspension, underbody and brakes

I inspect the car's underbody and visible suspension components, checking for fluid leaks, corrosion, mechanical damage, and signs of previous repair.

I assess the condition of the shock absorbers, springs, protective boots, mounts, and other visible suspension parts.

I check the tyres and their wear, as well as the condition and remaining life of the brake discs and pads.

Computer diagnostics, mileage and electronics

General diagnostics

Computer diagnostics are performed on all accessible control units of the car. Active, pending, and historical fault codes are checked, and real-time and stored data from the control units are analysed.

Engine parameters

I check actual engine performance parameters, fuel pressure, turbo pressure, injector corrections on diesel engines, fuel trims on petrol engines, and other data relevant to the specific engine.

Emission systems

DPF, EGR, and AdBlue system parameters are analysed, including their operating condition, recorded faults, and other available data.

Gearbox

Transmission performance parameters, clutch slippage, and other available adaptation data are checked. Depending on the gearbox type, operating and maximum recorded temperatures, usage counters, and other stored data are analysed.

Mileage

Mileage information is checked across different control units of the car. Stored data is compared, looking for signs of possible odometer tampering.

Service history

Where the car's control units store such information, service data, oil and brake pad replacement records, temperature history, tyre pressure system events, and other available operational information are checked.

Data analysis

Diagnostics isn't limited to reading fault codes. The actual and historical parameters obtained are analysed and compared against the manufacturer's specified values for that particular car's systems.

Interior, SRS and electronics

I assess the overall condition of the interior, its wear, and any possible mismatch with the car's declared mileage.

I check for damage to the seats, steering wheel, trim, headliner, and other interior parts, looking for signs of interior disassembly, odd or deployed airbags, safety curtains, and other indications of a previous accident.

I check the car's main comfort and electronic features; the exact scope depends on the vehicle's equipment level.

12 V battery, starter and alternator testView test and PDF report example

As part of the full vehicle inspection, I also test the 12 V electrical system using Autel equipment.

  • Battery – condition (SOH), state of charge (SOC), voltage and CCA.
  • Starter – starting voltage and cranking time test.
  • Alternator – charging voltage with and without load, voltage ripple.

✓ A PDF report is provided to the client after the test

Test drive

During the test drive, I assess how the car performs under real driving conditions.

I check engine and transmission performance, gear changes, clutch operation, acceleration, and braking. I assess the brakes, steering, and suspension, as well as vibrations, unusual noises, and how the car behaves in different driving modes.

Different driving and load conditions are used to help assess the condition of the transmission, clutch, flywheel, brakes, and steering system.

After the test drive, if needed, a repeat computer diagnostic check is performed to see whether any new fault codes or other deviations have appeared.

Hybrids and electric vehicles

Conventional hybrids (HEV)

I assess the high-voltage battery of a conventional hybrid (HEV) using the vehicle’s diagnostic data under load: cell or module voltages, voltage differences and temperatures. I compare the readings with reference data for a new battery of this model and assess signs of degradation against manufacturer tolerances. I do not perform the Autel SOH Blitz Test with a PDF report for conventional HEVs.

Plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and electric vehicles

For supported plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle models, I carry out a CARA-approved Autel SOH Blitz Test using licensed Autel equipment. You receive a PDF report on battery health with the test results. I confirm test availability for the specific model before the inspection.

A full car inspection costs 200 €. The additional SOH Blitz Test with a PDF report costs +50 €; the combined price is 250 €. This surcharge applies only to the SOH Blitz Test for PHEVs and electric vehicles, not to a conventional HEV battery diagnostic assessment.

Saulius's services are worth every cent. He works professionally, checked everything down to the smallest detail, explained it clearly and understandably to me, a client who doesn't understand much about it. I highly recommend him to everyone planning to buy a used car. I've already had painful experiences with hidden defects, but this time I got lucky, and thanks to Saulius I'll sleep soundly. Good luck to Saulius and his clients!

He inspected an audi a4 b9 2016, during a single inspection noticed all the red flags and explained their importance. We bought the car, drove 20k km and nothing "surfaced". We recommend him.

We called on a Sunday, and the specialist arrived in Jonava within an hour. The inspection was very thorough and meticulous, we received clear comments about the instrument readings and the car's condition. We were satisfied with the quality of the service. The car was purchased after the inspection.

Thank you for the professional car inspection before purchase! We checked a "Mazda". A full computer diagnostic was carried out, not just reading error codes but a real analysis of the engine and gearbox. We also inspected the body, checked the mileage, and did a test drive. Everything was explained simply and clearly. They send matching video reports. I recommend it to everyone wanting to buy a used car in Lithuania!

I used Saulius's services 3 times before I found a car worth buying. Without the inspection I would have bought the very first one, which still drove fine, but only the diagnostics revealed the approaching costly repairs and a rolled-back odometer. A true professional – from consultation to the inspection itself and flexibility. In Kaunas he arrived especially quickly without prior arrangement.

Huge thanks to the professional car-inspection specialists! Yesterday we looked at an Audi Q3 together. If I had gone alone, I would definitely have bought it. But they showed me things I myself would never have noticed: painted panels with a truly large amount of filler, minimal changes in the cold engine's behavior that are impossible to notice without diagnostics, as well as a rattling noise when giving gas, which according to the seller is a minor issue, but as the inspection specialists explained, it's a much more serious problem that would need to be uncovered by replacing parts with new ones, and that's a big financial expense, not to mention the time lost at repair shops and the nerves. To sum up, we went to look at an Audi with a light bump in its past, and found a wreck. I'm very glad I reached out, I sincerely recommend it to everyone, and I can also mention that the price is really good considering how much time it took and what field conditions the car had to be inspected in.
